The University of Eastern Africa Baraton has drastically reduced its tuition fee to attract students. Fees for degree programmes at the university was reviewed 30 per cent downwards from 90,000 to 63,000 per trimester. Speaking to journalists in Kapsabet, Vice Chancellor Miriam Mwita said the reduction was triggered by the need to encourage the local community in the county to enrol at the institution. “Baraton University is opening up its doors to students in the county. This reduction is meant to benefit our students. The fact that the Baraton road is being tarmacked has further called on the need to give incentives to students from neighbouring districts and towns to enrol in the university,” said Prof Mwita. The vice chancellor said the university was seeking to increase its partnership with the local community to promote social and economic development. She said the university does not infringe on the rights of students from other religious backgrounds, saying that 50 per cent of those enrolled at the institution were not Adventists. -->

Students are sometimes shielded from the ‘real world’ when in campus and college. Most don’t have responsibilities and have enough cash to see them through the semester. The routine in college is quite basic: class on weekdays and partying on weekends and the process repeats itself until recess. But for the few enterprising and forward-thinking students, there are boundless opportunities to make an extra coin in campus

While campus offers the room for talents and hobbies to blossom, many students bury their non-academic aspirations. It is not supposed to be that way. Quite evidently from the recent past, creative efforts are as lucrative as the demanding office jobs. And better still, creativity-reliant jobs are more fulfilling and offer freedom than the 9-5 job that many yearn for.

But in college you are at the peak of your energies, creativity, freedom and support to experiment with the many things you would have wished to do in high school but were stifled. You have friends, a forum or a market to test your ideas; sometimes you even have a roof over your head provided by parents or the university, thus giving you a lot of time to juggle both studies and a side-hustle.

Most of the time, many students, especially in humanities and social sciences have barely three lesson a day. Essentially only a half a day is covered and the rest is normally wasted on a watching movies/series or playing FIFA. This time can be utilized effectively to generate some income while honing your skills that can prove worthwhile in your future endeavours. Here are 5 top ideas worth pursuing.

1. Writing
Many students are talented in writing but often don’t understand that they can make money easily by writing to newspapers, magazines or academic papers (a growing international demand). All it takes is interest and passion in writing. Add to that some good understanding of grammar, a curious and inquisitive mind and you are good to go. Next you will need some proper understanding of the publication and get the contacts of the editor.

As long what you write is in line with the publication’s interest, odd or funny, you always stand a good chance of being published. Have a probing mind and open your eyes for anything you notice worth sharing; a photo, graffiti, a talented student worth profiling, a news event in campus worth public knowledge, something investigative like say on drugs, are some of the things can interest editors.

There is some reasonably good money to be earned. On average a short piece can earn you about Ksh 3,000 and longer one Ksh 8,000. Sometimes it could be more or less depending on the publication but if you manage four small pieces a month, you see you will have some Ksh 12,000 at the end of the month. If a longer one, it is Ksh 32,000. You will be amazed that it doesn’t take much. There are many students who have established themselves as seasoned writers and graduating to be even greater writers and good jobs in the media.

2. Sales and marketing
If there was one job that will suck life out of you, it has to be sales. Yet it is the most readily available job for the many graduates. Predictably, most drop sales and marketing jobs after picking their first paycheck. A sales job for a bank or an insurance company is particularly an impossibly difficult task in a fast moving city like Nairobi where people are characteristically impatient. But you can learn a lot and make crucial contacts for your next career move.

Campus provides a special forum for you to sharpen your abilities especially on communication and people handling skills. You can work on your charisma, sales-pitching skills by trying it on your friends. You can also try your internship earlier on especially if you are in a business-related course. This will help you to be continually busy or even promoted owing to your experience upon completion of your diploma or degree.

You can also start some small time business on supplies, given that campus is normally a microcosm of the country, you will interact with as many characters as you will ever meet in the outside world. There is a lot of money in sales, what with the commissions, but it is a job that needs a lot of patience, learning and a tolerant attitude. These are skills that you can easily rehearse while in campus rather than getting out there and starting to struggle with files talking to strangers who have no respect absolutely for your job.

3. Student politics
Politics is often ignored and frowned upon by many students, but it is a route to national politics. Think of James Orengo, Martha Karua, Kabando wa Kabando, AbabuNamwamba, Joshua Kutuny who were at one time student leaders.
These individuals had it right from the word go in college. They may not be the best representative we would wish to quote here, but at an individual level, they demonstrate the latent capacity of student leadership. Although we know we shouldn’t be in politics for the money, the reality is that student leaders brush shoulders with national leaders and subsequently are exposed to more opportunities.
University administration pays student leaders a stipend for their upkeep and is often a phone-call away to the VC.
So if you are charismatic, can work up a crowd, you are loud and can mobilize 120 students at the blink of an eye, you better start making contacts in big places. But remember, the world of politics is murky.

4. Sports
Although sports can be demanding and might be a tough call to balance school and sports, it offers a unique opportunity to showcase your talent with guaranteed support. Football, basketball, hockey and rugby clubs often scouts for talent in campuses and it is common to find students playing for professional teams, for instance the University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine.

This is especially meaningful for individuals with talent that was tapped well in high school. With the freedom and improved resources, it is always good to give it a shot and while at it, getting the necessary contacts.

5.  Public speaking/performing arts/broadcast media
For those given to too much talking, but not interested in politics, they can refine their oral skills in public speaking, performing arts or even giving broadcast media a shot. You can depend on the various audiences like the church, the bible study groups, the Rotaract meetings, Red-Cross brainstorming sessions, AIESEC, SIFE just about anywhere you can find a crowd that can listen to you, you can grow your confidence and perfect your skills as you are routinely entrusted to be an MC at events. That normally comes with money, of course.

So there you have it. Next time you opt for a Series or FIFA at 2 pm, think twice. That time can be used to get you money elsewhere. Go forth and try out something new this year, you might need a job after college!

Five things you can do in campus to make money

Love is a beautiful thing. The feeling that accompanies love is always beyond verbal explanation. However, love isn’t a beautiful thing if it isn’t happily ever after or at least happily ever for at least 10 years. Campus usually provides the finest platform to date and find a soul mate. A majority of married couples met in campus/college. So you can bet that there is a high chance of marrying your school mate. You can experiment and find out what formulas work and what formulas don’t work. In the end, the trail of heartbreaks you leave behind seems like an extended train crash with copious victims and collateral damage. Through all this time, don’t forget to look at the future. Like I always say, it’s hard to find a ‘wifey’ material after campus. I haven’t been there yet but I hope to be an example to my bachelor friends on how to get things done. I have just found the perfect way to make sure I leave campus with a ‘wife material’ girl. To all others like me, this is the real deal of advice, trust me.

 Be a bad boy

You will never attract good women by being a good boy. Like poles don’t attract. Physics teaches us so. Good women don’t live crazy lifestyles; hence their lives aren’t so full of fun. They seek to compensate that by having a man who offers thrill. They need a challenge. They don’t want men who will sit with them at home all day. They want men who will come home late, so that they can at least ask, “Where were you!!?” Good decent women want fun. They want men who will break up badly and go the length to make up. A good woman wants a man she can change or thinks he can change, though that never happens. Bad girls on the other hand are used to drama. They want a good guy who will tolerate all their wild endeavors. So fellow men, be a good guy at your own risk. Be a bad boy and attract all the good women.

Date many women, and don’t hide it

Before you judge, let me explain. Okay? A ‘wife material’ girl should be one who truly loves you – A girl who will do anything for you.  Ladies are always attracted to guys who have female admiration. The boy who is always walking around with a different kind of girl every time still remains the one every girl wants to hang out with. You have to create healthy competition. The one who is jealous the most, will fight for you and will take care of you well as a husband because she sees value in you.
Dating many women also gives a chance to sample and sieve. You are free to drop those who don’t meet the mark and remain with good ones. Then slowly you eliminate until you remain with your queen. It’s a scenario similar to the famous reality TV series ‘The Bachelor”

Hang out in the right places

Clubs won’t give you a ‘wifey’. Go to church. Campuses have churches and Christian Unions. Choir girls are usually very good ladies. If you can rap a line by 2 Chainz and she can sing ‘Mateke’ by Size 8, you will make a good pair.
You can also go to the Library on a Friday night. A lady who is in the Library on a Friday night is definitely not a bad girl. A bad girl will never go the library on a Friday night even if she has 50 exams the following week.  Sacrifice a Friday night to ‘study’- to study girls in the Library. Take your time to find your type among the ladies who are busy partying with books and pens then approach.
Having said that, I hope you find yourselves ‘wife material girls’. Adios!

How to ensure you leave campus with a ‘wife material’ girl

I am sorry I cannot sum up the courage to walk up to you and spew all the spiel I have in mind for you. I, therefore, am using this medium, hoping that at least you read newspapers, or have liked Kenyanewsfeed on facebook. That plus the fact that I have never been as angry as to pick up a cane over a quill.

First, what did vowels ever do to you? You sent me a text message that sounded like Xhosa, and I can’t help but wonder what vowels ever did to you so bad that you have decided to lock them out of your vocabulary. Nkt! Pardon my backwardness, but in my opinion, the Queen’s dialect was invented in England, not in Nyapiedho—your village. So since you do not own it, you have no standing to change it. Perhaps it is a Nyapiedho thing, I don’t know. Perhaps it is the latest thing to send messages swarming with consonants only; I must be stuck in the dark ages.

Second, I am a tolerant person — or so I think I am. I can bear vocabulary that makes fun of your KCPE results slip. I can bear the T-shirt that says “What are brains for when I have these?” I can understand why you go to the pool side only to lie on the pavements and pretend that you are not being admired. I can stomach all that. We are all allowed a moment of vanity once in a while.

But the one thing I cannot bear is a fake accent. It ticks me off. What churns my stomach is the fact that I have been with you since first year, and I know for sure you have never seen the boarders of Kenya. You picked it up that day when we had a joint fellowship with the rich folk from USIU. Pitch folk like us do not say ‘gonna’ or ‘wanna’. We only use that on Twitter because of the limitation on characters.

Feasibly if you were more true to your identity and spoke like an educated girl (albeit village bred), then you wouldn’t be single. If you actually rolled on the floor and laughed your butt off, instead of simply saying ROTFLMAO, someone would have noticed you. Seeing as it is that you already have everything else working for you; your bright future from behind.

Fake accent

We campus men will stomach a fake accent and a vowel-less text long enough to get you to bed. Once we take a bite at the cherry, we take off with the wind. You are the kind whose day job is to fantasising all day as you wait for your night job. If you give me one good reason to remember your name the next morning, then maybe I would introduce you to my friends.

A Must Read!!! Dear Kenyan Campus girls....

Of late, there has been a lot of outcry from us men about the dwindling moral levels of the modern lady. ‘Madem wa siku hizi wameharibika,’ has become a trending statement, The truth is, ladies can’t get ratchet without the ever present male audience. Ratchet chics believe that men are fond of their ‘mask’ lifestyles. There is some truth to this but only to a minor extent. As a man, I might be more inclined to desire thighs that look lovely but only appear in glimpses from a decent skirt rather than the ones I see exposed all the time.  Be careful with sexual appearances. A lady who seems volcanically passionate is often hiding insecurity, multiple misdemeanors and self-involvement.
When making a choice between bad girls and good girls, there are two things that men consider. If it’s fun for just a night, we align our conquests towards bad girls but when we are looking for a life partner, we go for the good girls. Bad girls never make you wait for too long before dropping the goodies. The fun begins as soon as the chemistry is sparked. With them, you have a free pass to all manners of fetishes without necessarily negotiating. It’s the endgame that counts. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who is ratchet and who’s perfect. Here’s how you do it.

Sex
If your chic has mastered more than five sex positions, she’s ratchet. Too much variety calls for too much work that you might not be able to fully handle. There’s a possibility you will end up with an assistant you don’t know of: an assistant who hits it harder than you do.  If she uses e-pills every month or funny shaped birth control pills from China, don’t wife her, she doesn’t care about kids. Wifey material girls’ ought to have a good attitude towards kids. A good attitude towards kids begins with safe sexual practices.
The length of courtship (number of days before sex takes place) can also tell you if a girl is ‘wifable’ or not. A good girl, will toy with a man’s insatiable desire for sex. She creates patterns of hope and despair so as to make faint hearted men quit. A bad girl is different; she doesn’t care whether or not you using her. She’s the type of girl that will lie to you that you are the father of her kids whereas in truth, the watchman or driver is the real father. Ratchet divas feel glad when sex ensues. They love it; Facebook sex, romps with strangers, drunken sex and orgies. Some don’t end up remembering who they slept with.

Money
If your object of affection never asks for money, don’t wife her. ‘Wifey material girls’ ask for money. They gauge how responsible you are- your ability to provide. No good lady wants to be with a stingy or broke man who won’t buy Weetabix for the kids. The amount and purpose is what differentiates good from ratchet. Bad girls ask money for things they can afford themselves.
Whenever you are having financial problems, a wifey type of girl will offer to help you out if she has the money. She will even insist on loaning you the money so that you don’t suffer. A ratchet chic worships money. She can never offer a lending hand even if she’s able to. Whenever you are undergoing a financial crisis, she’ll keep her distance. Such is the kind of lady that will leave you once you get fired from your job.  She’s the same the kind that will begin harassing you when she starts earning more money than you.

Meals
‘Wifey material’ chics prepare delicacies and amicable cuisines- the kind of meals we always looked forward to from our mothers when we were kids. The ones who aren’t very good cooks, always do their best to learn. Such chics will prefer that you buy chicken, then go cook at your place rather than get into a pizza joint. Yes, I said chicken, blame it on my roots.
Ratchet chics are as frustrating as it gets when it comes to meals. You buy her chicken then she ends up taking only three bites.  They prefer going to restaurants rather than cooking. When they cook, their meals taste like vegetables from Alcatraz. Sometimes they forget they’re cooking, resulting in a meal of ‘sukuma choma’. Even worse, they refuse to eat and demand that you go get yoghurt from the shops. She says, “I don do burnt mboga…dude, who does that? It wud be cwaizy!”

Welfare
By welfare I mean, yours and hers. ‘Wifey material girls’ are mindful about the appearance, status and progress of their boyfriends. These girls will insist on seeing your result slip like a parent. They offer their advice on various issues regarding your life. They drive you away from things that are bad for you. They never mind doing household chores for you. They themselves conduct their persona in a decent manner. They dress decently for the public eye and seductively for your eyes.
Ratchet chics don’t care about your welfare, they only holla at you when you are the man of the moment. When your ratings decline, they disappear and go on seek the next big thing. Their minds are preoccupied with their own concerns. They do anything to get money and opportunities. These behaviors leave them sidelined to single-life or to the troubled arena of side dishes.

4 ways to tell if she is ‘wifey material’

Saturday, November 16, 2013

So it’s a boring Monday afternoon and I’m relaxing in one of KU’s hangout joints. As I sip on my occasional Minute Maid, a curvy chic comes and sits next to me. I manage to catch a quick glimpse of her perfectly toned ass before going on to say hi. To my surprise, she smiles indulgently. I perceive the seductive flicker in her pretty large eyes as the green light but before I utter another word, she parts her luscious lips then goes,

“Oh! Si you are Philip Etemesi, that writer who likes dissing campo chics. You are cool and crazy, but I don’t like you that much!”

Being the type of guy that doesn’t take no for an answer, I remain resilient but she insists that she’d love having me as a friend only, nothing else. I thought I was past friend zones – apparently not. In rules of grammar, you aren’t allowed to refer to someone as ‘cool but unlikable’. If someone is cool, he’s likable and if he isn’t cool then he’s unlikable.

After all signs show that our conversation is heading nowhere, she leaves. I meet her again later in the day and I pretend not to see her. As expected, she shouts out my name, apologizes and ends up giving me her number. Sadly, I have accepted her earlier rejection and moved on. My primary school English teacher taught me ‘forwards ever and backwards never.’ I take that very seriously. Who? Me? No way. I’m just kidding. Of course I leave no stone unturned. The moral is you can tell whether someone likes you or hates you by the way they use grammar while talking to you. This brings me to my first point.

I love KU ladies and this is pure precise love speech dedicated to them. Here are 5 things you didn’t know about KU chics.

1. Some of them are really fluent in ‘Engrish’ not English.

The greatest torture I have ever been subjected to was eavesdropping on a conversation between a chic from Karen and a chic from Karatina. At intervals, they would ask for my opinion on certain issues and I would intentionally throw in hard jargons and phrases. If you combine Karatina English, Karen lingo and Etemesi English, what you get is three people speaking in tongues.

What exactly is Engrish? Engrish is English with unavoidable accent modifications. Let me explain. Engrish is when a chic texts a message such as this, “Xaxa, I dhot you were coming.” Huh? I’m still digging fossils trying to figure out where the substitution of ‘S’ with ‘X’ originated from. Maybe it’s because of the Chinese.

The KU administration made matters worse by moving the Chinese Confucius Institute close to one of the reading areas. The Chinese have a worse kind of Engrish. So do chics from Westlands. I tried learning Chinese but I found it hard because of two reasons. The first reason was the lecturer. Li Shua was her name. She came with a mini dress on the first lecture and I felt like I was watching Nikita. My eyes stayed fixated on her legs. The second reason was, she translated Chinese into Engrish, not English.

2. They have the prettiest weaves

I realized that Vera Sidika’s expensive weave can cater for my school fees from first year to fourth year plus masters plus repayment of HELB loan without any balance. It doesn’t matter. Forget Vera’s half a million shilling weave; a KU chic’s weave looks like the beautiful wavy silky hair of a Mexican girl. Before a KU chic leaves her house or hostel room, she always looks up to the sky to check whether it’s going to rain. KU chics always go to the TV room to check weather forecasts because rain is an enemy. If you want to be a farmer, don’t date a KU chic. You will argue over rain. Most of the ladies never lack umbrellas or paper bags in their handbags.

3. They used to love condom shoes

Once upon a time, KU ladies really loved condom shoes. These shoes were the ideal companions for trekking the long lanes. Apart from the current crop of freshers, most KU ladies can confess to at least owning the plastic, light shoes at some point. Some still keep the shoes as souvenirs in memory of the days they were single, broke and without boyfriends who could buy them better shoes.

4. They are obsessed with Smirnoff Black Ice.

The Incoming Organizing Secretary, EABL CEO, John Mututho and I are thinking of doing a Black Ice activation ceremony at KU. In attendance will be ladies only. As a motivational speaker, I will be advising ladies on the appropriate Black Ice consumption levels. Smirnoff Black ice is the major reason KU chics get chips funguad .

When a KU lady goes clubbing, she always takes a friend or two with her. The point is that the friends will watch over her when she gets wasted so that a hungry dude doesn’t carry her away. This never works because of the theory of ‘collective decision making.’ Campus girls like making decisions as a group. Apparently the whole girl group usually ends up getting wasted, resulting in a lucky nigga’s foursome or threesome.

5. They are natural beauties

Of all Kenyan campuses, KU has the prettiest ladies. That’s a fact. You should see the way touts and airtime vendors at the main gate stare at the princesses streaming in and out of campus. Team Mafisi from other universities such as JKUAT and UON always try to invade KU in numbers but we KU dudes have high awareness levels. The only competitors who pose a threat us are sugar daddies. Otherwise we are good.

Natural beauty is evident all over KU. Guys are spoilt for choice. There are the short portable chics usually referred to as ‘laptops’. There are the ‘mommos’ who are usually referred to as cargo ships because of the cargo they carry up front and behind. There are the golden brown skin chics, there are the super models and there are the chocolate chics. KU ladies are the reason Kahawa Wendani is called ‘The city of Angels’. KU ladies are the reason guys get intentional retakes so as to stay in campus longer. KU ladies are the reason I am happy. Hope I have redeemed myself from the ‘chic basher’ title I unfairly acquired.

This quite INTERESTING!! 5 things you should know about KENYATTA UNIVERSITY LADIES

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

1. Many Kenyan ladies will end up singles for life because of media exposure- it is so disheartening how a lady will glue her eyes on a mobile phone from morning to night, only to raise it up to focus on television to watch another celebrity entertainment channel. Tell me, what else will dominate this lady’s mindset aside how to live a fake celebrity life being promoted on television channels?

2. Many Kenyan ladies now dislike cooking and home chores just because they had been totally brainwashed by movies showcasing men playing the role of women in a family, and due to excessive exposure to modern media that promotes gender-equality in a destructive way that’s aimed at destroying the unique African family setting that made our previous African marriages everlasting and envious to the westerns. Now, with this attitude, how do you expect a Kenyan man to desire to marry when he knows he is only buying more headache and trouble than helper for himself?

3. Modern fashion and craze for gadgets is a great barrier to most ladies finding love and marriage. How do we explain a single lady whose only desire in life is to acquire the latest clothe in town, the latest mobile phone and pad to the detriment of her woman worth? How can a single lady maintain this lifestyle for long without bowing low to immoral lifestyle? How do you expect a man from a responsible family background, and who is in his right senses to propose marriage to a lady whose utmost desire and concern in life is to acquire costly electronic gadgets, clothes, jewelry, perfume, etc? Of course, majority of men would like to date such a trendy lady for fun and show-off, but wouldn’t want to propose marriage to such a lady even if she is earning the money herself because her expensive lifestyle already is a big turn off to most responsible serious-minded single men. Only men that are out to catch fun will be closely attracted to her, and her chances of getting a marriage proposal from them is as slim as a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

4. Excessive makeup turns most decent and serious-minded men off- if you have observed, you will discover that most men dislike excessive makeup, and more don’t even like it at all; reason they often times discourage their true loved ones to do away with it cos it speaks ill of a lady even though so many men will applaud and complement you for looking like an Egyptian mummy. A slight makeup is okay; but if you are out for marriage, try always to look simple and natural, it will attract better men, decent and serious-minded, except you are still living in your high school life and not thinking towards marriage.

5. Cut Down Your Participation in social network sites- if possible, close your facebook and twitter accounts because they may be doing you more harm than good, but you wouldn’t know until you hit 35yrs plus and still single and searching. If you cannot maintain a sizeable number of vital friends and family members as friends on your facebook, twitter, etc accounts, then you need to close the account and focus with your offline life. No man would want to marry a lady who jumps from one social network site to another because it is a clear sign of an unfaithful lady or about to be unfaithful lady, yes, that’s how men view it. Who are you to have a thousand friends on facebook, same on twitter, maybe on wassap, 2go, twoo, BBM, badoo, eskimi, etc?

6. Stop Giving Your Number Out To Every Dick & Harry! No man would want to propose marriage to a lady whose phone is always talking and laughing with unserious calls. You may not be a playgirl, but he would judge you as one, and will likely flee at the slightest chance or disagreement.

7. You Don’t Bring Any Value Into The Life Of Men You Date or Are Dating- because your best friend married without contributing anything to the man that finally married her, doesn’t mean it will work for you that way. Think, work towards equipping yourself so that you can be a value and also add value to his life to convince him that you are worth committing to. Adding value to his life isn’t by giving him money, or material gifts, nope….good counsels, being his best friend, helping him attain his goals in life, lending him moral, mental and spiritual support, and by not just being a liability that only bring requests and problems to be solved.

8. Your Friends Run Your Life- how do you expect to find a husband when you still allow your clique of friends to be dictating which man you meet is worthy of your love and which is not? When will you wake up and face the fact that those your best friends even though they cherish you, wouldn’t want you to marry before them or to marry the best man?

9. You Move Around In Group- often times, you miss the advance of a good decent man when you move in group, be wise. Again, men don’t always fancy ladies that move around in group because most ladies can only be reasonable when you separate them from their group of friends.

10. You Give Everything Out During Dating- As a single lady who has not been taken to the altar, you need to reserve some things for your husband to be, especially your body, respect it and preserve it at all cost. In the past, men rushed to marry to get certain things or privileges they had been constantly denied while being single. Such privileges include and not limited to: constant sex and companionship, good food and tidied home, etc. But today, a single man gets even the best and of course more of constant sex, good food and excellent home-keeping more than his married counterparts, so tell me how the hell you want him to desire to marry you when you have given him virtually everything he desires from a wife while being his girlfriend? And the most painful part of it all is that he knows that you are prepared to cut down on sex supply, cooking, home-keeping, etc once he marries you, so why would he not want you to remain his girlfriend for life?
For instance, everywhere you go today, you hear majority of single ladies crying that they won’t be a cook for their husbands, that their husband must know how to cook and must be participating equally in cooking and home-keeping, that they cannot marry a man who cannot cook or keep the home clean and all of that, but these single ladies are doing these things happily for their boyfriends and perceived fiancés without complain, but they keep complaining that they won’t do it when they finally marry, and the single men are hearing all these.
Now, a particular single man has three to four girlfriends who comes and cook, clean the house for him happily, and they also supply him with constant sex even when he doesn’t ask, and he is aware that once he marries any of them, she would stop or reduce the rate at which she cooks for him and would want him to be participating in the cooking, say; 60-40% of the time, and he knows too that if he marries any of them, she would start to deny him sex whenever she deems fit in the name of ‘I’m not in the mood’ or ‘I’m exhausted at work or business’ etc, but she was never tired to do any of the aforementioned things while dating the man, so tell me sincerely, how do we expect single men of today to still desire to marry like their fathers and forefathers desired to marry, with all these shabby scenarios surrounding our today ladies?

11. You Package Yourself Wrongly- in your attempt to look sexy, adorable and maybe appealing to guys, you have derailed from appealing to appalling. In fact you look more whorish than modest; more distractive than attractive, and more disgusting than adorable. Your dressing style determines who gets attracted to you most times. If you dress high school, only high school-thinking guys will be attracted to you, and if you dress excessively sexy and provocative, only randy men will come to you for urgent satisfaction of their immediate sex urge, so don’t be fooled by media hyping of certain kinds of dressing, they are meant for certain set of ladies you wouldn’t like to be associated with, be careful. Remember, not all clothes that look sexy are good for a seriously searching for a soul mate single lady.

12. You Lack Manner, Character, Wisdom and Good Home Upbringing- definitely, your ‘hot girl’, ‘pretty girl’, ‘sexy girl’ looks will win you so many men; both the good, and the bad, but your inner beauty, your character and manner are the things that will determine whether any of those men would stay or run after accomplishing their evil missions. In order words, do away with nagging, being possessive, challenging with men in negative ways, the mentality of ‘what a man can do a woman can do better’, a lie devil has used to deceive and destroy so many ladies today, please do away with it.

13. You Are A Liability- in as much as we know that the present economy of Kenya and the world in general is harsh, men and society in general careless about how you react to this situation, how do I mean? Read on.
You are from a poor family background, and you have no job or you are earning below $1000 a month but you want to wear designer clothes, shoes, jewelry, perfume and also carry Prada and Gucci hand bags. You want to use the most expensive gadgets- mobile phones, pads, etc. you are from a poor family background, or average family, etc is not a justifiable reason for you to be depending on men for virtually everything you need in life. Show yourself some respect. And don’t think you can split your exorbitant expenses amongst different men, by dating different men so that you won’t be demanding from that one you truly love amongst them, so that he will be convinced that you are a good girl who doesn’t demand, fallacy! A man knows when his woman is sleeping around with other men to meet her needs, most men only decide to keep mute for reasons, don’t get it twisted, but hardly will they marry you- that’s why you see a lot of pretty ladies complain; “after giving him my love, my body, my heart, and did everything for him, etc, he paid me back with heartbreak, God will punish him, blah, blah, blah” says who? Of course you don’t expect a man in his rightful senses to marry an unrepentant whore, do you? Would you welcome your own brother bringing home a playgirl as his would-be wife, be honest please?
There are zillions of decent and honorable things you can do as a single lady to at least meet your own financial needs without sleeping around with men or depending on one man to supply all your needs. Finally, cut your skirt according to your length. You are from a poor family, your parents earn below $3000 a month, but you want to look like Rihanna, wear the same clothe she wears, you want to live a similar life Beyonce, Genevieve and Tiwa Savage lives, and you want to dine in the costliest hotels and restaurants, and you are jobless or earning below $2000 a month. Now tell me sincerely, how is it possible to achieve this foolish goal without patronizing immoral lifestyle to meet the insatiable demands?

14. Your Role Models Are Totally Strange And Bad! If you want to be a great woman tomorrow, start now to emulate great women- study their foot parts, their lifestyle, their ways and try to inculcate their lifestyle into yours. Stop looking up to music stars and fake celebrity ladies, etc as your only role model in life. What happened to looking up to women like- Ngozi Okonjoiweala, Oby Ezekwesili, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Sen. Dabiri, Sang Suu Kyi, Hilary Clinton, Michele Obama, etc? Stop glueing your eyes on fashion TV, Fashion One, Big Brother TV Show, E! etc, and start now to build interest in economy issues, current affairs, economy and business news, watch more of CNN, National Geographic channel, Channels TV, ESPN, Discovery World, Animal Planet, Aljazeera TV, Super Sports, etc, these are what men love to see women do cos only a handful of women show interest in these, and those few women are those ones that end up being great women in future. Movie Magic, Africa Magic will only inculcate bad habit, poor manner and laziness in you, please wake up before you end up single for life, which I pray not.

Why Kenyan Ladies End Up Single For Life

Saturday, November 9, 2013

A bitter row is brewing over the eligibility of Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology vice-chancellors to head the two institutions.
In separate judicial review applications instituted by teaching staff in the respective universities, the lecturers argue that the renewal of the contracts of the two vice chancellors was irregular as the reappointments did not go through competitive process as provided in the Universities Act and State Corporations Act.
Consequently the staff, in a case filed under certificate of urgency, wants the reappointment of Olive Mwihaki Mugenda of Kenyatta University voided and a fresh hiring process commenced. However, Prof Mugenda, in a 135-page reply, argues that the judicial review sought is time-barred and that her antagonists are motivated by malice and personal differences.
Mabel Imbuga, whose reappointment is being challenged by lecturer Naftaly Rugara Muiga, faces similar allegations. Prof Mugenda’s renewed five-year contract is being contested by Dr Wilfrida Itolondo, Dr Mumah Solomon, Dr Elena Korir, Martha Miyandazi and Fred Obare.
In the case against Prof Imbuga, Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof Jacob Kaimenyi and Attorney General Githu Muigai are first respondents, while the President, the AG, Kenyatta University Council and Prof Mugenda are the respondents in the KU case. The date for hearing of Imbuga’s case is yet to be fixed but that of Mugenda was meant to commence Thursday, but it was been pushed to December 16. The case will be heard by Justice Njagi Marete of the Industrial Court.
However, it is the submissions by the AG that have touched off a furore over selective interpretation of the law following his argument Prof Imbuga was eligible serving the first term, but she should have gone through a competitive process for her reappointment. Further, the renewal of her contract should have received the President’s nod.
Submits Prof Muigai: “The fact that one is eligible for reappointment does not take away the requirement that the process should be competitive... The bottom line is that the process should be competitive as per the provisions of Constitution.”
He, however, adds a rider that even if an incumbent is eligible, reappointment is not guaranteed.
“It (eligibility) means that one can participate in the selection process and can be considered a possible candidate, and that he or she should participate in a competitive process.”
Further, the two reappointments were not done by the President as required by law.
In her replying affidavit, Mugenda accuses adversaries of concealment of material facts about staffing, acting belatedly and maliciously to force her out of office.
She argues that the  allegations of embezzlement, mismanagement, and cronyism have no bearing since the jurisdiction of the court does not concern itself with the merits of management of the university.
